Hi, I’m Kyuha Jung (pronounced q-ha and jung as in jungle).

I’m a 2nd-year Informatics PhD student at UC Irvine. I work with Dr. Yunan Chen in the HAI (Health and Information) Lab.

I do 1) exploratory studies to understand students’ mental health experiences in school and home settings and 2) design studies to speculate future technology in supporting their mental health needs.

• I’m excited to begin a research-practice partnership with Irvine Unified School District to improve its mental health and wellness services.

I have a background in UX research/design and social science.

• Before my PhD, I received my B.S. in Information and Interaction Design at Yonsei University (advisor: Dr. Younah Kang) and M.A. in Communication at Seoul National University (advisors: Dr. Joonhwan Lee and Dr. Hajin Lim), South Korea.

My research focuses on:

• HCI, CSCW, Health Informatics
• Mental health and well-being
• Students in school and home settings
• Qualitative and design methods

Outside of work, I love making good food and espresso. I am also a songwriter. Please listen to my songs so I can buy more coffee beans.
